BREA, Calif.—M.R. Mold & Engineering Inc. has added a 120-ton Engel e-Victory injection molding machine for mold trials on liquid silicone rubber applications. Now, M.R. Mold operates six LSR-dedicated presses of 55-120 tons. Engel, Arburg and KraussMaffei manufactured the machines. In addition to LSR capability, three of the machines have barrels for processing thermoplastics. Screw sizes range from 15-35 millimeters. During the summer, M.R. Mold is providing five-week engineering and software internships to three seniors from Brea Olinda High School. Each intern went through an interview process and spends four hours on each of two days per week at the plant. They work with the firm’s mold makers and software programming personnel. The students participate in the high school’s Global Information Technology Academy, which receives assistance from industry experts and university specialists in supporting advanced mathematics and sciences courses over four years.
